Accreditation & Assessment

IOAS as assessor

In addition to working as an accreditation body making formal decisions on accreditation, IOAS also works as an assessor, where another entity (usually a government) takes the accreditation decision or decision on approval.

This is the case with the following schemes:

Assessment follows exactly the same sequence as accreditation. It is a core aim of the IOAS to combine assessment of certification bodies against any chosen schemes to provide maximum value from the process. The IOAS fee schedule is also designed to facilitate simultaneous assessment.

Assessment without public notification or issue of an accreditation certificate is also available for certification bodies that simply require external assessment.
