IACB

The International Accredited Certification Bodies (IACB) is a network of accredited organic certification bodies from around the world. It was set up in order to share information, knowledge and resources on topics of mutual interest.

The key purpose of the IACB is to support members on issues related to standards, accreditation, regulation and certification. One of the key ways the IACB currently facilitates this is through the development of the International Accredited Certification Bodies Equivalent European Union Organic Production & Processing Standard for Third Countries.

This standard – which is recognised by IOAS – combines, rationalises and simplifies (EC) 834/2007 and the more detailed implementing rules in (EC) 889/2008 and adapts them for use outside the legal framework of the European Union, thus providing production rules to be used by operators for gaining certification equivalent to that described in (EC) 834/2007.

Alongside the EU equivalent standard, the IACB offers opportunities for training, information sharing and networking throughout the year and meets in person once a year at Biofach, Germany.

IACB members are from across the globe – from Argentina to New Zealand, India to the United States.
