COSMOS is pleased to announce the appointment of Harald Dittmar, CEO of BDIH, as the new chair of the COSMOS-board. Harald Dittmar has been involved in the development of cosmetics standards for more than 20 years. He has been instrumental in shaping COSMOS alongside the other founding board members.
Francis Blake, formerly of the Soil Association, has resigned as chair and board member due to his retirement. We welcome Jenny Collins, from the Soil Association’s standards department, who has been appointed to the board.
Francis Blake oversaw the harmonisation process of the different organic and natural cosmetics standards that the founding organisations had each established prior to developing the joint COSMOS standard and will continue to support COSMOS as an independent chief advisor.
COSMOS is a not-for-profit, international and independent association. COSMOS sets out innovative, challenging and progressive criteria for organic and natural cosmetics that consumers can trust. The organisation was founded and is run by the leading associations and certifiers in organic and natural cosmetics – BDIH, cosmebio, Ecocert, ICEA and the Soil Association. To date over 400 brands comply with the COSMOSstandard in over 90 countries, with rapid growth forecast. Certification is offered world-wide and manufacturers have a choice of 10 authorised certification bodies.
