ISEAL welcomes Textile Exchange as Associate Member

Textile Exchange has been accepted as an Associate Member of ISEAL, joining a growing number of initiatives that are driving positive social and environmental change across multiple sectors.

Textile Exchange focuses on identifying and sharing the best practices in the global textile industry regarding farming, materials, processing, traceability and product end-of-life in order to minimize the harmful impacts of the textile sector.

As an associate member of ISEAL, Textile Exchange adheres to the ISEAL Credibility Principles and meets the baseline criteria of each of the three ISEAL Codes of Good Practice – Standard-Setting, Assurance and Impacts, as assessed by the Secretariat.

The news was announced by Patrick Mallet, ISEAL’s Director of Innovations, at the 2017 Textile Exchange conference. Karin Kreider, Executive Director of ISEAL, said ‘We are delighted to welcome Textile Exchange as an Associate Member. Achieving associate membership status and aligning with the ISEAL Credibility Principles reinforces the valuable work Textile Exchange are undertaking. We look forward to working closely with Textile Exchange to guide them along the path to full membership, sharing the learning and tracking their impacts and improvements along the way’.

To transition to full membership, organisations must undergo an independent evaluation to demonstrate they meet overall compliance with improvement criteria of the Standard-Setting Code and, within three years of full membership, undergo an independent evaluation against the Impacts and Assurance Codes.

ISEAL strongly encourages any organisation developing or operating a sustainability standards system with a multi-stakeholder approach and a commitment to credible practices to consider joining the ISEAL Alliance. You can find out more information on the ISEAL website members page.
