On May 22, 2018 the IOAS took the decision to suspend ISO/IEC 17065 accreditation of Overseas Merchandise Inspection Co. Ltd of Japan.
OMIC have been invited to take corrective actions to resolve the issues that caused this action.
Whilst suspended, OMIC operators in possession of a valid certificate under the scheme on May 22, 2018 continue to be recognised as accredited certifications and may continue to trade product under accredited certificates and, where relevant to the scheme, the CB may issue transaction certificates unless the scheme owner determines otherwise. No certificates may be issued by the certification body to new applicants or extensions of scope permitted to existing operators whilst it remains suspended.
Any operations, certification bodies and authorities that relied on this application for accreditation are asked to take note.
Update:
The ISO/IEC 17065 accreditation suspended by the IOAS as of May 22, 2018 was lifted by decision of the IOAS Accreditation Committee on June 21 2018.
