On October 4 2018, the Textile Exchange authorised the IOAS to perform accreditation services for the Responsible Wool Standard in both the Farm and Supply Chain Scopes. RWS is a global benchmark for animal welfare and land management practices in sheep farming. The standard requires sheep are raised with respect to the five freedoms, prohibits mulesing, and includes strict guidelines on other practices such as tail docking, shearing, and on-farm slaughter.
TE has developed several standards for the textile industry and the IOAS has worked with them since 2010. More information on the TE’s Content Claim Standard, Organic Content Standard, Recycled Content Standard, Global Recycled Standard, Responsible Down Standard and the Responsible Wool Standard is available on our TE information page.
