Impartiality Committee
The Impartiality Committee ensures that IOAS operates impartially. It reviews samples of IOAS decisions and evaluates the appropriateness of our policies and procedures regarding conflict of interest. The Committee also assesses whether actions are needed to address potential risks to impartiality.
Garth Kahl, USA

Garth has been part of the organic movement since 1989. In 1996, he started his own certified organic farm. He has an international career in inspection and certification. In 2011, he founded a consulting company for organic crop and livestock production, field and facility pest control, fertility management, and food processing.
Jan Deane, UK

Jan has been a key figure in the organic movement since the early 1980s when she and her husband with their two young children took on an abandoned small farm in Devon, UK where they grew organic vegetables and pioneered the concept of organic vegetable box schemes. Jan has worked nationally and internationally for the organic movement, focusing on certification, accreditation, and agricultural policy. Retiring as IOAS Executive Director (Operations) in 2016, she remains involved in various projects.
Michela Coli, Italy

Michela started working in the organic agriculture industry in 1997 after graduating in agricultural sciences. After a few years of consulting for agricultural companies, she chose to focus on controls and certifications. Her work has taken her around the world, where she has conducted inspections, provided training, and participated in international projects. Throughout her career, she has been involved in accrediting various schemes related to agriculture, quality systems, and sustainability. Currently, she works for CCPB , and continues to contribute her expertise in coordinating and monitoring inspection activities and personnel in the field.
Pedro Landa, Argentina

Mr. Pedro A. Landa, an Ag. Eng. from the University of Buenos Aires (1980), is the founder and Technical Director of Organización Internacional Agropecuaria (OIA), an Argentine company specializing in organic production certification with international reach. OIA has a strong presence in the organic sector and is affiliated with IFOAM. Pedro is also a Lead Auditor with extensive experience in auditing Quality Management Systems.
