Oversight & Monitoring

IOAS provides oversight and monitoring assurance services for standard-setting organizations, oversight bodies, scheme owners and regulators. The flexible and remote nature of our operation enables us to tailor monitoring and oversight activities to suit each organization’s needs.

We can provide bespoke services in conducting assessment activities and provide recommendations in a report to the contracting body. This can include targeted remote and onsite assessments, witness audits, operator file checks, document review and any combination of these.

Assessment without public notification or issue of an accreditation certificate is also available for certification bodies that simply require external assessment. 

IOAS’s global reach and team of expert assessors means our Oversight & Monitoring service can be an effective and cost-effective approach for any entity that wants to ensure compliance of their collaborators.

Examples are:

• Certification body that contracts work to other CBs – IOAS performs witness audits to the inspections performed by the other CBs
• Scheme owner that relies on generic accreditation of CBs – IOAS provides oversight activities on the CBs to ensure correct implementation of the scheme requirements
• Groups of standard setters – IOAS provides desk assessment of the organization’s requirements on standards, assurance and impact
• Other ABs – IOAS works with other ABs to provide technical assessors in support of their work
• Regulators – IOAS provides advice and assessment reports in support of the regulator’s approval decisions and monitoring

Note:  IOAS is alert to the risk of conflicts of interest arising if there were to be an overlap of services we provide to a scheme or certification body if we were also providing accreditation linked to those bodies. All such services will be analyzed for such risks before deciding to proceed.
